Window Treatments for Cannon Hill Homes
Designed for the Craftsman, Foursquare and period revival homes around Cannon Hill Park.
A neighborhood built with care
Cannon Hill grew up around one of Spokane's most charming parks. The Olmsted Brothers laid out Cannon Hill Park in 1907 on the site of an old brickyard, and the streets around it filled with Craftsman bungalows, American Foursquares and Tudor and Colonial Revival homes.
Many still have their original woodwork, built-ins, divided-light windows and leaded glass. Parts of the neighborhood also follow local historic guidance, so window treatments should feel like they belong to the house.
Respecting the architecture
Layla, our lead designer, grew up in Spokane and has spent more than 20 years in interior design in Seattle, Dubai and San Francisco. In a Cannon Hill home she starts with the house itself: the trim profile, the color of the wood, the period of the rooms. Then she suggests fabrics, textures and mounting that suit it.
Sometimes the best advice is to cover less. Beautiful leaded or art glass often deserves to stay on show, with privacy added only where you need it.

Questions from Cannon Hill Homeowners
What window treatments suit a Craftsman bungalow?
Roman shades in natural fabrics, woven wood shades and real wood blinds with stains that complement original trim are classic Craftsman choices. Lined drapery adds warmth in living and dining rooms.
Should I cover leaded or stained glass?
Usually not entirely. We often recommend leaving art glass visible and using top-down/bottom-up shades, a sheer layer or side panels for privacy only where needed.
Can you mount shades without damaging original trim?
We discuss mounting options with you before installation and choose the approach that best protects your woodwork.
My windows aren't square. Is that a problem?
No. Every product is made to order, and we measure each window individually.
Can I add motorized shades to an older home?
Yes. Rechargeable battery motors need no wiring, so there's no need to open plaster walls.
