Child and Pet Safety
To ensure that your pets and children are safe we suggest to replace any corded shade with our cordless or motorized option. If you are unable to replace, then make sure the cords are out of reach and furniture is moved away from the window so that the cords are not accessible.
The following features on our window treatments have a safety focus:

-
Cordless lift, motorized lift options, and retractable-cord options replace free-hanging cords that could strangle children or pets.
-
Tension devices keep continuous-loop pull cords taut, eliminating free hanging loops.
Guidelines from the Window Covering Safety Council
The Window Covering Safety Council urges parents and caregivers to check all windows for potential cord hazards and make the necessary safety updates:
-
Install only cordless window coverings in bedrooms and sleeping areas for young children.
-
Replace window blinds, corded shades, and draperies with products manufactured on or after June 1, 2024, and which meet updated safety standards.
-
If replacement is not possible:
-
Move all cribs, beds, furniture, and toys away from windows and cords. Keep all window pull cords and inner lift cords out of children’s reach and ensure cord stops are properly installed and adjusted to limit the movement of inner lift cords.
-
Ensure tasseled pull cords are short and continuous-loop cords are permanently anchored to the floor or wall and keep cords out of reach of young children by installing and using cord cleats.
-
Repair window blinds, corded shades, and draperies manufactured before 2001 with retrofit cord kits, available by contacting the Window Covering Safety Council at info@windowcoverings.org or 1-800-506-4636.
