# Window Treatments for Tower Mountain Area Homes

Elevated homes, sweeping views and a lot of sun. We design for all three.

## High ground, big light

The homes on the slopes around Tower Mountain enjoy some of the widest views in the Spokane area, and catch some of the strongest sun.

Window treatments here have three jobs: protect the view, protect the rooms behind it from heat and fading, and make large, often hard-to-reach windows easy to use every day.

### At a glance

- **Home styles:**
Custom view homes and newer luxury builds
- **Common windows:**
Expansive view windows, clerestories, tall great-room glass
- **Popular picks:**
Motorized solar shades, layered drapery, blackout for bedrooms
- **Smart home:**
Works with Alexa, Google, Apple Home and whole-home systems

## A whole-home plan

Layla, our lead designer, grew up in Spokane and has spent more than 20 years in interior design in Seattle, Dubai and San Francisco. On larger homes she starts with a plan for the whole house: which rooms need sun control, which need darkness, which need softness, and how it all looks together from inside and from the street.

Then she layers drapery, Roman shades or cellular shades where a room needs warmth, and keeps the view windows clean and open.

## What Works Beautifully in Tower Mountain

### Motorized Shades

Rechargeable battery motors, so no rewiring. One tap, your voice or a schedule. Ideal for tall and hard-to-reach windows.

### Solar Shades

Cut heat and glare and protect floors and art from fading, while you still see the view.

### Custom Drapery & Valances

Made to order with the right lining, pleat and hardware for the room. Frames the window, adds warmth and finishes a formal space.

### Custom Roman Shades

Soft, tailored folds in linen, wool blends or a beautiful print. The classic choice for traditional rooms, and lovely layered under drapery.

### Cellular Shades

The most insulating shade we sell. Top-down/bottom-up versions give privacy at street level and daylight from above.

### Blackout for Bedrooms

Blackout shades layered with lined drapery for real darkness and a beautifully finished bedroom.

## Room by Room

### View rooms

Motorized solar shades on schedules to protect floors and art from afternoon sun.

### Clerestories

Motorized shades for windows that are otherwise impossible to reach.

### Primary suites

Blackout shades layered with drapery.

### Theater rooms

Motorized blackout shades that close with one command.

## Questions from Tower Mountain Homeowners

**Q: Will shades block my view?**

Not with the right solar fabric. We'll show you samples at your own windows so you can compare openness and color.

**Q: Do motorized shades work with my smart home?**

Yes. With the smart hub they work with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Home and many whole-home systems, including Control4, Crestron and Savant.

**Q: Can you shade high clerestory windows?**

Yes. Motorized shades are the practical solution for windows that can't be reached by hand.

**Q: How do I protect furniture and art from fading?**

Solar shades and lined drapery reduce the sunlight that fades materials, and motorized shades can close automatically during the strongest sun.

**Q: Do you serve the Tower Mountain area?**

Yes. We offer free in-home design consultations, measuring and installation across the upper South Hill.
